The 5 Love Languages.

day 28: 30 for 30

what is your love language

get book here

i love this book. I took a marriage class at byui for my cluster and they suggested this book.
so when i actually got married i bought it and norman and i read it and figured out our love languages and how to make the other happy.
it's really great and worth reading.
well, from this book i found that i have 2 love languages that are very close in ranking.
1. receiving gifts
and
2. physical touch

want to find out your love language?
{p.s. i just took this quiz on this website and had a three way tie with receiving gifts, physical touch, and quality time.....i apparently need a lot of love :)}

Narcissism.

day 27: 30 for 30

what is your favorite part of your body and why

almost there! we have 3 days left of this 30 for 30 business.

i hate this question....it's so awkward and seems so narcissistic.

but i'm gonna go with my eyes.
they're pretty normal shaped....kinda turn up at the ends like they're smiling. i have decent length of eyelashes.
i have a pretty decent eyebrow bone.

anywho..... so...i'll just go with that for now. :)

hope everyone will be having a fabulous and fun weekend.

Popular notions are stupid.

day 26: 30 for 30

what popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?

this honestly might be one of those "morgan....that was a little too far..." kind of posts. and my dad would probably be so embarrassed if he read this, but it's what i honestly think, so here it goes:

sex

i think the world has the idea of sex and what it's supposed to mean and what it's supposed to be all wrong. more than all wrong.

i was one who didn't have sex until i was married.
and i'm so glad i waited til then.

i grew up being taught that you wait til marriage to have sex.
and they tell you why, but i never really got it until i was married.

the world exploits sex in every way possible.

movies have inappropriate sex scenes.
affairs are commonplace.
songs constantly talk about it.
magazines have half naked women on them.
pornography is everywhere.

it honestly breaks my heart that something so special has been made into something nasty, "kinky", and objective.

my wedding night was incredible.

i won't go into much detail because it is something sacred and special to me, but it was something i'll never forget.
it brings you close together in a way that only two people completely committed to each other in a marriage should be. {in my opinion}

i won't elaborate much further, but i just think the world has it so wrong when it comes to sex.

it shouldn't be dirty.
it shouldn't be out in movies and music and all over the internet.

since i've been married, going to a movie with a super descriptive {for lack of a better term} sex scene offends me more than it used to. before...i didn't get it. now that i've experienced how neat it really is to share that moment with someone you truly love and who loves you back and is committed to you for forever, i get it.

this particular popular and ever so growing notion is very very stupid. :)

Dinner with Abe.

sorry i haven't been around for a few days... i currently don't have a computer so i am borrowing.
makes it difficult to blog.

but here's the continuation of my 30 for 30...it's takin me a while.

day 25: 30 for 30

if you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat

so i could think for days about the perfect historical person to have dinner with and the perfect meal to have, but i don't wanna...so i'm just gonna share the first person and place that came to mind.

the who:

abraham lincoln

via
so this might be a little weird that he was the first person to pop in my head? kinda...

but i just think he was super wise and it'd be interesting to see what he had to say these days.

the place:

wingers.

duh.

Family dynamics.

day 24: 30 for 30

describe your family dynamic of your childhood vs. your family dynamic now

childhood:

isn't this photo rad?

my family "dynamic" as a kid was something like this:

i remember not getting along with my sisters.
i was the youngest and therefore the taddle tale {no idea how you spell that...don't think i have ever tried} of the family. didn't make for a very positive environment when it came to my sisters. :)

when i was young, my sister, linsey, and i were super close, and kelsey and katie {middle children} were close. we had fun times together and our family as a whole was close.

when teenage years hit, dynamic changed drastically.

half my family had moved out and my sister and i, {kelsey} were the only ones left home and became really close.

then she left for college and it was me, my mom, and dad...and the dynamic changed again. i was now basically the "only child"

there was lots of teenage drama and arguments with parents. but also a lot of fun and love and laughs.

family dynamic now:

the original 6
now...things are again different.

we are all married, and all my sisters have kids.

this is what we look like now:

and since this picture was taken, my sister on the far left added 2 new ones to the family:

took this while i was in P.R. (Quinn and Rian)

so now our family is spread across the globe.

one sister in the caribbean,
one in florida,
and the other here with me, in idaho :)

we are all still extremely close and stay in touch via skype, texting, fun visits {we got to go to puerto rico and florida this year} and we all get along fabulously.

the brother in laws are all very different but tolerate each other i believe :) and we all have a good time together.

we love playing games, and the nieces love to play with each other.

so in my opinion, my family has always had a good family "dynamic".
we all get along well, we all consider each other friends.

i love my family so much and love the relationships i've gained with them over the years.

hobbies.

day 23: 30 for 30

{this is almost becoming a chore...}

list your top 5 hobbies and why you love them

1. volleyball.

grew up loving the sport. love competition. love the unity. love the game.

2. watching movies.

i know most people wouldn't consider this a "hobby" but i love it so much, that i do. :)

3. reading.

it's like watching a movie, only you get to be the director. sweet!

4. camping/boating

i love being outdoors. i love the lake. i love water sports. {even though i'm not exceptionally good...i hold my own i hope}

5. singing.

i'm not the best singer in the world, but i have a decent voice. i can read music. i can follow a tune. and i absolutely love harmony. music makes me soul happy :)

The future and the present.

day 22: 30 for 30

where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?

5 years:

27 yrs old.
 i'd be graduated.
norman graduated.
have a baby with possibly another on the way
moving somewhere for normans new rockin job offer

10 years:

32 yrs old.
a successful cosmetologist
3-4 kids
possibly a home?
an adorable puppy for sure named carlisle.
living somewhere rad!

15 years:

37 yrs old.
living in a nice home, decorated to my liking.
hopefully a salon in my house that i can work out of.
4-5 kiddos runnin around me givin me constant loves.
still in complete love with my wonderful husband.

well that was fun takin a peek into my future life for a sec...now lets see what's goin on currently:

i took this sunday afternoon.
my cousin, mekelle, and her husband, nick, took me to the airport sunday night, so i stayed with them all day sunday and had a fabulous evening.

we went over to my aunt and uncles for a delicious dinner {in which i even had seconds on carrots....that is a huge deal...by the way} and as we were sittin in the living room, watching a league of their own {fabulous film} i looked out their back deck doors and saw this view above....had to capture it.

beautiful place that heber valley.

then it was on to the airport for a couple of long flights.

the first being from salt lake to atlanta in which i don't remember a single thing.

slept the whole way.

in fact, i fell asleep before take off....

then had a 3 ish hour layover in atlanta and was uber tired

then onto my flight to san juan, puerto rico!

yeah....slept through the whole thing as well.

but managed to wake up to capture this view outside my window:

and to snag a free apple juice and pretzels. :)
then quickly fell right back to sleep til we landed.

when i got there my sister said one of my nieces {london} had been talking about coming to pick me up at the airport all day and was so excited.

well when i got in the car....ready to greet them all: this is what london was doing:

:)

it was really cute to see her face when she woke up and there i was in the car with them!

we then finished the day by grabbing some mcdonalds for lunch, taking a quick dip in their complex swimming pool, and eating some empanadas for dinner {no idea how to spell that...but they were delicious}

overall the trip has been a success thus far.

:)

here's to 3 1/2 more days of fun.

You can read minds?

day 21: 30 for 30

if you could have one superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it first

this question is super easy for me, and so therefore this will be a short post.

:)

i have always wanted to read peoples minds.

know what they're thinking.

but....only sometimes.

i not only want the power to read peoples minds and hear their thoughts, but i also want the power to turn it off when i want.

because that could get exhausting.
and sometimes...i just...don't want to know.

so there you have it.
i would read minds.
and i don't know really what i would do with that first other than cure my curiosity.

:)

have a great weekend everybody!

as of tomorrow i am headed to hang out with these guys:

london and jenna

rian, quinn, and london

kelsey and dan

in this beautiful place:

 Puerto Rico here i come!

again :)

Reminiscing.

day 20: 30 for 30

describe 3 significant memories from your childhood

i've decided that some of these questions are hard

i have lots of memories from my childhood. how am i only supposed to pick 3?

but i'll try i guess....

i was a pretty cute little girlie...i won't lie...and then i had a huuuuge awkward phase. it's fine.
:)

but i have tons of memories with these two lovely ladies:

then

now

these girls are two of my absolute favorites.

they are 2 of my cousins: Tayva and Mekelle
{i also mention them here}

when i think of childhood memories i think of them.

lost of make believe.
lots of dress up.
lots of late night talks.
lots of 2 against 1. :)
lots of boating.
lots of camping.
lots of beanie babies.

i love these 2 girls so much.

one specific memory i have {out of way too many to recount} was at priest lake, idaho.

our yearly get away.

me, mekelle, tayva. triple slolem skiing :)
we arrived at priest lake, and us three decided we were gonna go on a little adventure through the woods.

we were running following each other and to keep it short and simple, we were on top of a log, walking across it and i slipped off...went to grab on to anything to save me from falling into the muddy pit below me, and as a reached for a branch it sliced me from my wrist up my hand. leaving me bloody. cute.

well we then realized we were lost....and we panicked.

we had just been running and running through the woods we hadn't noticed we didn't really know where we were.

how do you get lost in a place you've been every single year of your life for the last 12 years? i don't know...but it happened...and my hand was bleeding pretty good.

so i started to cry and my cute cousins were the brave ones who tried to figure out a way back to camp.

we walked a bit and luckily our parents made us take a walkie talkie with us. so once we got in range, we radioed someone to kind of help us find our way back.

it wasn't terrible. but i couldn't ski that year til my hand healed.

laaaaaame.

us three have so many fun stories. we surely did live it up back in our younger years. played hard. :)

another girl i think of when remembering childhood is this one:

this is my older sister, kelsey.

i followed her around like crazy as a child and as i mentioned in another post, i pretty much wanted to be her when i was little.

i mean look at me...i'm even copying her pose here in the photo above.

and clinging on to her here.

gosh i was real annoying.

but we grew to be best friends!

but during childhood i remember playing lots of games with kelsey. they were rather odd.

one was called "donkey"

and it basically involved her sitting on my back {she was a lot larger than me} with me on all fours and i had to see how far up i could get on the stairs before collapsing.

i thought it was hilarious for some reason.
and she liked the torture of me struggling up the stairs.
we had an odd relationship.

and we have so many fun memories.

now i know i didn't really list 3 specific memories, but i can't really think of anything else worthy of writing down.

i know there are lots, but i'm just havin a writers block i guess. :)

so if anyone reading this has a memory of me and them when i was a kid...

please share!
it's fun to reminisce.

The 2 S's...

day 19: 30 for 30

if you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

so i am constantly playing this game.

the "where could we live" game.

it's a fun game when you're still in college and the options are endless.

i love it.

it drives norman crazy though. haha.

so as of right now, i have narrowed it down to 2 places.

one is more of a realistic place, and the other...maybe not so much.

first...

seattle

i mentioned this in one of my 20 random facts about me, but i have a weird obsession with seattle.

my parents and i took a road trip once: went to the redwood forest in northern california {also wouldn't mind living in norcal..it's beautiful up there} then up the coastline of oregon and washington all the way to forks, {yes...for twilight reasons...it was fun} and then on our way back we drove through seattle and hung out for the day and i fell in love.

i remember texting my cousin right there saying "i know where i'm gonna live....so you'd better move on up to seattle with me"
{we had planned to live by each other}

i just thought it was an absolutely beautiful city. so clean and green and bright and beautiful {i'm feeling like a poet...see how i get when i talk about it?}

and it's not terribly far from family down here in good ol' idaho.

anyway...i loved it.

wouldn't mind living there at all.
plus my husband is doing civil/structural engineering and we are hoping to get an internship with boeing {which is in the seattle area} so...this dream is quite possible.

yay for me!

{plus it'll do wonders for my naturally curly hair up there..}

second is:

 switzerland

i really don't have super good reasons for why i'd want to live here other than:

*it's in europe
*it's always neutral
*it's breathtakingly beautiful
*it's surrounded by countries such as germany, france, italy, and austria so it would make it awfully convenient to travel the world
*they don't eat outrageously weird food...{i'm rather picky unfortunately...it's a problem}

actually...those reasons aren't too bad in my book.

so...lets do it?
