memorial day weekend

memorial day weekend...always so blustery and rainy. such a downer. but not this time! and how great is that? we had quite the nice little break. we went to pocatello friday evening and i got to play some volleyball for the first time since before i was pregnant...(thank goodness my skills are still there...just not my endurance...ugh). then saturday was filled with attempts at fishing in the wind, trying out norman's pontoon on the water for the first time {yes i kept the picture of me dark for a reason...you don't want to see my no make-up, itchy, allergy face}, norman's pontoon then falling off of our car on the back highway, some delicious BBQ, and ultimate frisbee. it was a pretty great saturday.

sunday, one of my dear friends, kirsten, was blessing her little boy in her in-law's ward! we were so excited because her in-laws are in pocatello, and kirsten lives in washington. so i finally got to meet miles! {who was born around 10 days after grant} and he is the sweetest! it was also so refreshing being with good friends with good food and catching up. another great day.

monday my family did as we usually do. a visit to my uncle and my grandma's graves in idaho falls, then back to my aunts house for lunch. unfortunately, this year was a little different, my dad ended up getting the flu and had to go to the hospital {he just received a new kidney and has to keep his meds down}, so my mom was with him, and my aunt, who usually hosts the lunch, was at the hospital with her mom who had fallen and broken her 12th vertebrae. so kind of a crazy day. the good news is, my dad is on the upswing, the bad news, my aunt's mom is not. which actually may be a good thing...? she has dementia really bad and is kind of in no mans land...her quality of life hasn't been the greatest lately.

but other than that, it was a fun day! we went out and reacquainted ourselves with the horses at my aunt and uncles house. i go to their house hundreds and hundreds of times and haven't been out to pet or see the horses in years. so we decided to break the mold and go do some bareback riding. it was a good time! they're beautiful animals. however, norman did rip all the way up his pants trying to hop on the back of one of the biggest horses. it was pretty humorous.

it was such a refreshing weekend and we were grateful for the break. hope you all had a good weekend remembering loved ones who have passed and thanking those who have served our country!

my one and only camping trip

friends....I didn't blog ALL of august. and i'm disappointed in myself....

i haven't been blogging cause i've been exhausted driving back and forth between idaho falls and Pocatello for the last month and a half.
and our computer is broken...so...therefore no blogging allowed.

but we did have a little bit of fun in august.

we went to 7 peaks in Salt Lake City with Norman's family and my cousin and her little family. that was really fun. {no pictures though..sorry}

and this last weekend I went on my first and last camping trip of the summer season. it was all I ever wanted.

it was only for one night. and we mostly just fished...and ate food...and hung out by the fire. and all of us look super cute when we're camping. and I am convinced that we have the best group of married friends ever. like ever ever.

I mean we hung out around the campfire and talked about boy stuff and girl stuff and poop and peeing and marriage and movies and everything that bff's talk about. I seriously love all these couples and I feel like it's really rare to find a group of people where ALL the husbands and ALL the wives like each other...like a lot {and we're even missing a few people....kir...}. it seriously is the best and I am so sad that we're all starting to go our separate ways.

norm and I moved to Idaho falls.
kir and McKay moved to Kennewick.
jess and jared moved to Rexburg.

it's still relatively close, but it's the beginning of our eventual split. and it makes me so sad. I tell norman every time we hang out with everyone {probably more than that} that I am so sad cause I don't think we'll EVER find a better group of friends.
they are so great. love 'em all.

anyway...moral of the story is...camping was a blast. and I wished I could've gone more this summer but....that's ok. i'm ready for the beautiful fall season and I can't stop thinking of crunchy leaves and orange and red and pies and stuffing and pumpkins and cool air and sweaters and boots and scarves and all things that come with fall! it's my favorite.

hope all is well with everyone!

school is upon us in full force

....and therefore i haven't blogged in a while. i'm in school from 8-5 everyday, and i'm playing on a wash team for a local high schools' volleyball team {we scrimmage their varsity to help them get better}, and i'm playing on a city league volleyball team {whose games are at 10 o clock pm}, and i babysit my sisters kids while she has night classes/work.

needless to say, i don't find a terrible amount of time for blogging. but i shall anyway!!

this is what we have been up to:

over labor day weekend we went up for a day and half to a friends cabin and did some fishing. it was nice and relaxing. {and i may or may not have gone to the bathroom.....in the woods...and i'm super proud of it}.

on our way home from the cabin in island park, we met up with our friends in blackfoot to go to the ever-so-white-trashy-but-oh-so-fun eastern idaho state fair!

we of course indulged in some delicious fair food {including the deep-fried candy bar pictured above}, we went to the hypnotist show {which was pretty funny this year}, held some baby pigs, and people watched {my favorite part}.

then it was back to school. felt like the longest week ever. and norm realized further that he can't see, so we went and got his eyes checked and went glasses shopping. :)

he's so cute, is he not? :)

aaaaand i finally got my hair done! {it was long overdue} and although you can't tell in the picture because of the filter on it, i went brown. still has some red, but it's definitely more brown. yay!

so there ya have it. pretty simple but oh so fun!

and let me just add something completely random that i love about my hunsband and i: whenever norm and i drive separate vehicles but are heading to the same destination, it goes without saying that we will take separate routes and race to see who wins. {he always does......i don't get it}.

anyway...this happened last night and i was sure i was going to win.....i didn't. UGH! curse you red lights that skip my turn!
