lashes and london

i'm really excited my friends. because we are learning minky's eyelashes, remember? and i thought i was gonna hate it. cause usually, small tedious things like that don't intrigue me all that much. but i knew i would do it anyway because it can make some decent money. but the reason i'm excited is cause i absolutely love it. and i have no idea why. but it is so fun and challenging to me. i'm still in the midst of my training. we had to learn on our partner, then we have to do 5 models and then we have to have someone to do our test on. so i guess 7 total. tomorrow will be my #3 and i can already feel myself getting better which is so exciting!

so here was my first time doing it on my friend, ali:

then my first official model was my cousin, tayva:

second, my sister, katie:

isn't it great? no mascara. you have no idea how long mascara takes up a part of your day until you don't have to do it anymore :) so nice. thanks everyone so far for letting me practice on you!

now on to the maybe not so fun stuff. so as you know, my sister and her 4 girls live with my husband and i. well, last sunday my sister and i were talking about how we have noticed that her daughter, london, had been going to the bathroom a lot lately and was constantly thirsty.
so we decided to call our sister, who is diabetic, to bring her tester down to our place to check her blood. just to rule it out.
well... we didn't rule it out... her blood sugar was extremely high.
 long story short, we took her to the E.R. and turns out...she's a type 1 diabetic.
our family has always known it's a possibility to get it because my dad and sister have it, and my cousin on my moms side has it as well. all type 1.
so london and my sister stayed in the hospital a few days to learn how her body reacted to insulin and what they needed to do to keep her blood sugar where it needs to be.
luckily, having a sister and dad who have type 1 diabetes, we are somewhat familiar with it and have good references if we have questions.

london has been so tough through the whole thing and is such a sweet girl. all the nurses and doctors loved her.  and we love her so so much.

here are some hospital pics for ya:

{this was shortly after we arrived at the hospital}

{different londy faces during her stay}
{my sister, london, and i hangin out at the hospital}

london is so loved and got so many visitors and gifts during her short stay at the hospital. she is a special little girl and although it completely sucks to get type 1 diabetes at 4 years old... she's so tough and i know will be so strong.

love you londy pie!

the rest of halloween

i thought i should share what else we have been up to over here for halloween because it's been pretty fun.

i painted my nails all "halloweenie" and we carved pumpkins with my nieces

{the bottom one is normans :)}

now guys, i have never really been one to dress up super cool for halloween. in fact...it stresses me out most the time. my competitive side tells me to go all out, but my carelessness for halloween tells me that it really doesn't matter, throw on some srubs and be a doctor.

well ISU cosmetology does a costume competition every halloween and that word "competition"...got my little competitive juices flowing. but then i still just didn't want to put in the work or money into finding a cool costume.

i was telling my friend, kelsey, this and then she said "well, i have a few costumes at my place you can come try on if you want."
so i did.

and i found this gem:

yes, that is me in the middle. as the mad hatter {from tim burton's version...which lets be honest....is the only version worth watching :)}

she had the best mad hatter costume ever and our school had the face pain...so whalah!! costume made. and it was ooooooh so good.

the picture above are the 3 winners of the competition. my friend, Milli, took first place as Flo {rightfully deserved...she totally looks like flo}, i took second, and my friend, dolly, took third as a pirate.

this is me and a close friend of mine at school, Ali.

then we have my cute little nieces that live with me! we took them trick or treating.

you can't really see this picture that good, but it's all of us ready to hit the pavement. my sister was the march hare. we were quite the pair. :)

it was quite a fun halloween. i was thinkin about everything i've ever been for halloween, and i'm pretty positive....who am i kidding...i'm completely positive that this was my best costume yet. i felt a little like a celebrity, cause we stopped by a trunk or treat and i had some people literally sprint up to me to tell me how much they loved my costume.

hope everyone else had a very happy halloween!

now on to the holidays! my absolute favorite time of the year!

since we last spoke...

i've been up to a couple things since we last chatted.

my brother from another mother, Jason Matson {a close family friend} returned home from his mission. we're really excited to have him back.

we had a halloween party with our church last night and i did 2 of my nieces hair and makeup for it {and if you're wondering why one has toilet paper hangin out her mouth it was cause she had just lost a tooth}. then last minute i decided to dress up myself as an egyptian...don't worry...showed up and my sister and i were the only adults dressed up.....awk...ward. {it's only the cool adults that dress up, right??....RIGHT?}

i've also been browsing on ksl for puppies. for fun. found the cutest daschund in the world on there and wanted him so bad. oh, and by the way.... while getting out of the truck in my weirdy egyptian dress, this rather large man was walking by with a little american bulldog puppy. i ran halfway down the side walk...in my long egyptian dress ...at night....to stop him so i could pet the puppy....
yes, i did that...he may or may not have thought i was a complete lunatic.

and last but not least my dear mother in law has been canning salsa!! my absolute favorite....and i've been eating it like it's my job.

oh!  and i'm headed to a dinner party with friends tonight! gonna be a lot of fun!

happy halloween!

2 weeks with no internet

is waaay too long.

sorry for my absense. our router broke and we had to wait for a new one to arrive. and it finally did! so here i am!

i've been wanting to share what i've been up to lately cause, guys, trust me, i've been havin some fun.

norman works for our local school district as a bus driver! {it is so very great} and he takes a lot of teams/groups to their events. one of these was the highland band. they had a competition in logan, utah. norman was to leave at 9:00 am and not return til 10:00 pm!! way too long without my boo :) so i decided to meet him down there.

what's great about his job is that while the teams are playing or groups are competing he can do whatever he would like. so some friends of ours {kelsey and paul} and i drove down to logan and had a fabulous day!

 started our day out at the infamous kneaders {none of us had never been} we had heard it was fabulous, and it did not disappoint. then we headed to the temple {can you get paid while attending the temple?...well..norman did} then we did a little shopping {nailed me a $9 shirt from old navy and a chambray i've been searching for} then of course for dinner we went to a&w and let me tell you it's been waaaay too long since i've had a freeze! it was sooooo good.

the day was absolutely fabulous. good food, good company, beautiful place. can't get better.

some other things that have happened:

 norm and i had the opportunity to go to a mormon tabernacle choir concert at byu-idaho with his aunt, uncle, grandma, and grandpa. it was really good. fabulous music, and of course norm and i can't take anything too serious so in part of the concert we were laughing so hard we couldn't compose ourselves. {it's a long story....one of those "had to be there" things but it was oh so funny}.

then at school we celebrated 75 years of ISU's cosmetology program. we had a nice little dinner and a program.

saturday was the homecoming parade. i was supposed to be in it, but i opted out so that i could take these 2 little squirts to it instead. it was so fun. {yes, i do look like i've been attacked by the allergy season....cause i had been. i was sneezing up a storm}.

anywho...so that is what you all have been missing from my life while i have been away. great amounts of fun! hope i never lose internet for 2+ weeks again. :/

i start school in a week

a weeek!!!

a week of summer is all we have left here at the reece home. and then it's school for 9 months. ugh.
but the good part is....in 9 months... i graduate!

and i won't lie, i am very much so looking forward to fall and hopefully a very blustery winter {we need it with all these fires}.

so this is what my ending the summer events look like:

+ a date to rupe's for dinner {so very good}
+ a snowcone date with my niece
+ camping with friends
+ fishing with friends

it was a really fun weekend camping with kelsey and paul and we're planning on going fishing again this saturday before school starts.
yay!

hope everyone is enjoying their end of summer as well!

Here's where i've been.

where have i been you ask?

superbusyville is where i've been.
i don't think i've even really been on an actual computer since i blogged last.

so this is what's been goin on:

1. still no news about my weird rock hard lump in my throat.
did an ultrasound that didn't tell us much, so next was some blood work....still waiting for those results.

2. my friends, melissa and kelsey, and i threw a baby shower for two of our other friends who are both having baby girls about two weeks apart.

bit of an awkward picture?...maybe.

we did a waffle bar...yum

3. i made the dean's list

4. my sister and her 4 beautiful children will be living with norm and i permamently so i've been hangin out with these guys a lot

sunday before church

took them to smiths in their jammie's to pick up something and they decided to model for me :) love them so much
the sweet twinners :)

5. then there was fathers day

my husband is....special :)

6.  Amanda {volleyball friend}, Kelsey {sister}, Katie {sister} and i played in a 4 on 4 volleball tournament and took 3rd out of about 12 teams. not too shabby.

7. my parents gave their mission "going away" talk in church which was fabulous

so to say the least.....i've been in busyville.....superbusyville.

a little bit crazy. a little bit fun.

we have been pretty busy over here at the reece's/rhoades'/riley's
{yes, these are all the last names of those currently living under one roof }

i don't know if i mentioned this before, but, norman and i moved into my parents house over memorial day weekend in preparation for my parents leaving on their mission.

well, i also went to puerto rico, as you know, to help my sister come back to idaho for a summer visit.

she is also living with us. along with her 4 beautiful daughters under the age of 5 :)

it definitely makes for a busy household of 9.

so first of all:

quinn and rian {kelsey's twin 8 month olds} got sick with bronchitis....or something like that, and had to go to the hospital :(

norm cuddling quinn at the hosptial

they stayed for 5 days and then came home somewhat healthy. Rian is still on oxygen but she's doing well.

norm and i had fun with the other 2 kids at home and taught london how to wink.

so dang funny...i could not stop laughing.

then, my cousin, mekelle, had this little guy:

zane alexander wood

he is adorable, i can't stand it.
and she is a champ and a happy mother.

we went and visited them in heber on friday evening and then saturday norm, my mom, kelsey, katie,cameron and i went to
lagoooooooon!
{these people are my husband, 2 sisters, mom, and brother in law}

car ride to lagoon

in line for re-entry....one of our fav's

me and norm in front, kelsey in middle, katie and cam in 3rd row...mom taking picture...although we did convince her to go on the ride later on that day

after colossus..{the roller coaster}....and norm thinkin he's funny. he has a hard time taking a normal picture...i apologize :)

stamped hands

afterwards we went and got some dinner at Chili's and then headed home.

it was a fabulous day! so much fun to get out and not worry about the kiddos and head to a theme park! :)

although we did miss my dad {who caught the babie's bronchitis} and my sister linsey and her husband, who live in florida, so obviously couldn't make it.

but i don't feel too bad because they left this morning for a cruise .... lucky dogs.

so quite eventful it has been.
i love summer.

I'm such a loser...

i'm such a loser.

i have been the worst blogger ever lately!
we have just been so busy, i tell ya!
but things have finally slowed down.

we have been...

makin some of these

they were delicious by the way...wanna make them again.....asap

writing some talks...

we had to speak in church on sunday....ugh. luckily it went really good. norman dominated.

havin some neices sleepover :)

then we had memorial day

norm with london and rian

me, kelsey, dad, mom, katie

on memorial day we went to idaho falls to my uncle and grandma's graves.
afterwards we went out to my aunts house, had a delicious lunch, played some football, ran around....what not.

then we moved.

i hate moving.

and i didn't take one picture because i was so busy trying to move as quickly as possible. and we had so much help from mine and norman's family, they were so great and made it go fairly quickly.

but now we are currently moved and i finally have a computer at my fingertips again.

thank goodness! :)
