halloween

grant's first halloween! woot woot! i'm not gonna lie....i don't love halloween. and now that i have a kid, i have to do the whole costume thing for....forever. i guess when you're a poor married college student you don't really want to spend extra money on halloween costumes that you wear once. but...maybe one day i'll love it. when i'm rich. ;) {not} nevertheless, we dressed grant up as a nebraska cornhusker football player! he already had a helmet so, it made sense.

i think it was the monday before halloween, here in rexburg at hemming village they had a little trick or treat thing going on. so norman and i went with our friends. it was fun and my cute friend had the CUTEST costumes for her and her little family. all frozen themed of course. very popular this year. and i was just in love with her new baby boy, kyrie as a little olaf. it was the cutest ever.

{we of course needed a pic of my dad dad...past cornhusker player....with grant as a mini husker!}

on halloween we drove to pocatello to spend the evening with family. we had chili and cornbread at my moms, took some obligatory pictures and then headed to trick or treat with my sister and her cute kiddos. afterwards we headed to my in-laws to show off our handsome boy, put him to bed, and then went and played games with friends. it was a lot of fun and we stayed out til 1 am! which is crazy for us old people. i felt like a teen again! ;) i get tired around 9:00 these days! so it was quite the feat.

then we chilled on saturday...i played some volleyball with old friends, and we headed back home to enjoy the extra hour that night of sleep. thank goodness for daylight savings.

hope everyone else had a great halloween weekend! let the holidays begin!

a little more seattle and some taking stock 09

so remember back in this seattle post where i said we met these reallllly nice people at the seahawks game? like weirdly nice? people in seattle were weirdly nice. any who...in that post i talked about the people who sat behind us in the game and how they got some shots of us and grant and got our email address and said he would send us the pictures. well, he finally did {along with another comment about how cool grant was and how if we are in the area again to look them up....haha. so weird. but so genuine and great}.

anyway, i thought i would share the pictures he took and sent to us! he said that if he found any more as he sifted through he would send them our way.

{also..i know i look pretty cool with my old school bears hat...courtesy of norman. who also told me i looked like a surfer dude with my hat on my backwards and my bleached blonde hair frizzed out from the humidity...thanks, love.} ;)

gender reveal party! it's a......

we found out what the little nugget is!! most of you probably know because of facebook and instagram and such...but i'm writin the post anyway.

our appointment was for 9 am, I made it this way because I didn't want to sit around and wait all day. so we got there right on time....and I walk in and they say "did you not get my voicemail?"
I knew I had a voicemail and missed call that we had received on the way to the appointment but I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. so I said "no" then they continued to explain that Dr. Oldroyd {my doc} had to go the hospital to deliver a baby and that it would be a while.....panic.
then they followed up with a "but nancy {the nurse} can do an ultrasound and tell you the sex, but you'll have to come back next week to do the measurements."
phew.
that's perfectly fine.
so we went in and got ready to see the little one....
well they make you drink lots of water before you come and make sure your bladder is full because it's easier to see the baby....or something....well I was DYING...thought I was going to wet my pants with every movement.

so we're watching baby and let me tell you....it's a cute little bugger waving it's arms in the air and suckin it's fingers and rollin around.

but don't worry....15 ish minutes and there's absolutely NO sign of private parts.....

so she tells me to go empty my bladder halfway so that it had a little more room to move around. {by the way....when you're about to burst from having to pee so bad....try to only "halfway" empty your bladder...it's a feat. but I did it}.

so I come back out and we tried again....nothing......the stubborn little thing just had it's legs crossed the whole time....
so she said...go ahead and try to empty your bladder all the way.
thank goodness.
so I do, come back out ...and we try again.
same thing....
i was panicking again..i told the nurse i wasn't leavin til we knew the gender...i needed to know the gender of this dang baby! not only was my curiosity killing me but, i had a PARTY that night. all our family and some friends were coming so we could reveal what it was.

well...i think it knew i was stressin, cause it finally started to cooperate. and it finally showed us the goods.

a boy.
a boy???!!!
a boy!!!

we were in shock.
i have all sisters.
norm has all sisters.
i have almost all girl cousins.
all my sisters have girls {10 total}.

we were expecting it to be a girl.

but it was a boy!!! we were so beyond thrilled. we had both really wanted a boy, but hadn't let ourselves really invest in that idea because of the girl trend in my family.

not that we wouldn't have been happy with a girl. I've always wanted a little girl. but...i just never thought i would get a boy...i honestly didn't...and now i am!!
we are so excited.

so we continued with the rest of our party planning and headed to Pocatello, where the party was being held.

it's a good thing we did it that night because norm and i had a hard time keeping the secret in and not accidentally slipping when talking to family. {we actually did slip a couple times and attempted some cover ups...they were bad}.

the party was a blast. i was so worried it would be a little anticlimactic, but it so wasn't. everyone was so excited to be there!

once everyone got there, i handed out the pumpkin rice krispies i had made earlier and explained that in the center of only 4 of them was the color of which ever gender it was. then we said to go ahead and open them up!

well...we ended up makin too many rice krispies i guess, cause we had some left over...and no one had the m&m.
i had handed them out to my little nieces, too...so as everyone frantically is still looking, my little 2 year old niece, Quinn, walks up to my sister to hand her her rice krispy to open for her. all the sudden i hear my sister yell:

"QUINNY HAD IT!!! ITS A BOOOOOOOOY!!!!!"

everyone began to yell and clap and cheer.
it really was a fun and exciting moment to share the news with my family.
first boy out of 10 girls.
very exciting news for our family :)

we then ate soup, rolls, and goodies til our hearts were content.
i gushed over the ultrasound pictures as i showed everyone.
it was a perfect evening.

we're so excited to have a little boy in our family of 3! and we are so so so grateful for all the family and friends that have been so supportive and congratulatory! you are all so great and so so very kind. we love you so much and again...THANK YOU!

p.s. do you see my mom creepin?
p.p.s. i'm planning on putting the video we took up of the reveal on here but I couldn't get it to work at the moment so THAT and some sonograms will be coming soon!!

moving, visitors, and some...other stuff.

guys, it's been quite a while since i've blogged. i've just been so darn busy! but some stuff has happened.

here's a short update for ya:

we finally moved!

everything went smoothly and it was a nice transition. our apartment is great and we love it so far. i'll post pictures eventually...but i don't have everything put together...at all. and mostly because all my time has been spent working and chillin with family!

my sister and her family from florida came to visit! we hadn't seen them in a little over a year! it was so very nice to see them again! we miss them so much!

we went to lava hot springs! i haven't been in years. and if we're being honest...it's probably the only summery thing i've done all summer. :( lame.

we also went out to eat at senor iguana's one night. and i'm sad to say i've never been....which is odd cause i love mexican food. it did not disappoint.

linsey and jarom also taught me how to make their famous salsa and now i'm going to make it by the gallons and have it forever!!! i'm so excited about it.

other than that my life has been consumed by working and driving back and forth between idaho falls and pocatello. yay.

we did get to see our friends, mckay and kirsten, and their little girl, june, at kirsten's mom's wedding reception. we loved seeing them again and have missed them since they moved.

so that is what has been going down lately at our place.
i still have some stuff i want to blog about! {like my fabulous headboard we made} but alas, today is not the day.

hope you are all doing more fun summery things than i am!

one of those random ones

so some stuff has happened.

some are a big deal, some...not so much but i'm gonna share anyway.

first of all, my sister got this little guy:

his name is Leo and he's a little dachshund. and he is so very cute and cuddly! he's a very precious addition to our already pretty cute household.

norman had a mission buddy come through town as well. he and his 3 friends stayed at norman's parent's house {since ours is full of little ones} and below are them rockin out to the player piano {christmas music style}. it might not show in this picture, but, they were lovin it.

not only did we show these guys a good time with the player piano AND a trip to the burrito bus {which they loved}, but we watched these youtube videos called "slender man" for about 2 hours straight. they are supposed to be scary. and they kind of were....
has anyone else heard of this slender man craze? they first few entry's {there are 67..mind you} have over 3 million views or something like that....maybe just over a million...i don't know..i'm an exaggerator.

but what was even funnier was that "slender man" has quite the resemblence to this guy in our ward...whom i like a lot...he's probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet....but they look a lot alike...

and norman's mission buddy+friends were freaked out. haha. it was great.

{p.s....is it a little bit naughty to sneak a picture in church?.....probably....oops}

and lastly....

i'm angry.
very angry.
{please don't continue reading if you don't want to hear a little rant}

so last week, i begin watching private practice and the little announcer guy says this: "and now kate walsh stars in the countdown to the series finale of private practice"

ummm....say what??

did you say series finale?
i rewound in like 5 times {again, possibly an exaggeration}.
i was mortified and looked it up on my iphone right away.

an article said something to the affect of:
private practice's ratings have gone way down since moving from thursday nights to tuesday nights and the company feels like the characters don't have anywhere else to go, anyway.

umm.....say what????

so not only are they ending after this season...but they're also cutting it short!!! Yes...they also said:

we deliberated showing the final 9 episodes of the season and after much discussion, decided we would just end on episode 13.
i about died.

so not only are they ending one of my favorite tv shows of all time...they are cutting it in half.

guys, it's not ok.

they're ending grey's anatomy on season 10...which is one more season after the one currently airing...
and i thought...what am i gonna do after grey's is over? ...oh yeah...i still have private practice...YAY!

oh wait...NO I DON'T!

guys...i'm really upset.

and that's all.
i apologize for my rant.

in good news though:
tomorrow is my 2nd wedding anniversary! :)
more on that later!
