oh my heck, he's getting big. he had his 4 month appointment today and had his second round of immunizations! bleh. although he was pretty tough. he SCREAMED last time and it was hard to calm him down, but this time he cried when she gave them to him and then the second i picked him up he stopped and just started whimpering. it was actually pretty precious.
here are his 4 month stats:
weight: 16 lbs percentile: 64th
length: 26 inches percentile: 87th
head circumference: 16.5 inches percentile: 61st
so he finally grew into his head a little bit. we went from 87th for his head to 61st so that's not bad. and he's tall!? what the heck...norman and i are shorties. well..i'm pretty average for a girl...but norman is only 5'10". Grant grew 3 inches in 2 months! tough boy.
his sleeping habits went through quite a rough patch between 3 and 4 months. i was getting really frustrated. we had him sleeping an easy and steady 8-10 hours for quite some time..then he plummeted to waking up at 2 or 3 am every night.....UGH! i talked to my baby nurse practitioner sister about it and she said that i can either let him cry it out, or feed him and eventually he'll start sleeping longer again. well..i'm not really much for the cry it out thing...especially at 3 am. so i fed him. and that went on for a few weeks. just recently though he's starting to hold out til in between 4 and 6 am. so we're getting better! he takes 3 good naps in the day and he is a great napper. i go lay him down and he puts himself right to sleep.
he still is a great nurser! eats about every 3 hours and is fast. it only takes him about 10-15 minutes to get his fill. however, he has suddenly REFUSED to take a bottle. he used to take one perfectly fine and now he will have nothing to do with it. sooooo....we're gonna try and fix that.
this month he found his feet. it started out with him raising them in the air and just staring at them for long periods of time...then it graduated to him touching them and playing with them. it's so fun to watch them learn new things. he also will actually bat and play with his toys!
he still has that flat spot...doc gave me a flyer on different ways to help round his head out, we do good in the day but at night when he sleeps it's always on that same spot! hopefully we can get it fixed before his next doctors visit. Also... Still no rolling over for mr. Grant. He will roll to his side but cannot tuck that arm, yet. If we tuck it for him he'll flip himself over. He's getting the hang of it. I'm still alright with him staying put. :)
he is ticklish in his ribs and it's so fun to make him laugh. him and his dad have a good time playing together and norman can't wait til he can wrestle and rough house with him. he likes to be sung to and most the time will calm down in his carseat (which he doesn't love) when we sing to him.
doc said he can have rice cereal now if i want him to, but i think i'm still going to wait til he's at least 5 months. he just seems so little! and he doesn't need that nasty cereal, yet, right??
he's a pretty content little baby these days and doesn't fuss much unless he needs something. we, of course, love him so much and love each new phase of his life! i just want to savor and remember everything!!!! we love you so much, G!

ReplyDeletethank you!!! i think he's pretty cute.
DeleteI hate when I have to re-do my comment...
ReplyDeleteDude, he is SOOO cute!! I love that he is grabbing his little toesies!! I need your secrets on how you get him to fall asleep on his own! AND how you get him to stay asleep. Miles is amazing at night but the worst sleeper during the day. so frustrating!
well honestly i think grant just came to me as a good napper. hah. cause i don't do anything. but i'm jealous about the night thing!! grant still has some issues at night. but not too bad. anywho...i need to see that miles boy!!
