30 weeks

i am 30.5 weeks. every half counts these days, guys. and i'm definitely feeling bigger. i keep reading on my pregnancy app tips for how to get some sleep now that you are more uncomfortable and i keep thinkin...man, i'm still sleepin like a baby in the night...no problem there..until last night. and i hope it was just a one time thing {doubtful} but i just could not get comfortable to save my life. i drifted in and out of sleep all night only to be wide awake at 6:30 or so when my husband wakes up. then i tried to go back to sleep and still tossed and turned for another hour or so until i finally fell asleep for about an hour. it wasn't pleasant. and i am hoping it doesn't happen again. but baby boy reece has definitely made his way up into my rib cage and is crowding my diaphragm. that's pretty unpleasant....and he's only getting bigger from here so...i'm a little worried.

i'm starting to feel a little nauseous again around mid day. i think i'm just not snacking enough, or it could be my pills i'm taking for my infection. who knows. but i hope that doesn't stick around. i get tired really easily. last night norman and i bit the bullet and unpacked and went through all our boxes and DI'ed a bunch of stuff, threw away a bunch of stuff and put away the rest. it really wasn't that strenuous of an activity but man i was beat afterwards. however i am so so happy that my apartment is starting to feel homey. i think i'm beginning to get some of that nesting syndrome cause i was just feeling so anxious to get everything put away so we can start getting the nursery put in place. i mean i only have like 2 1/2 months left, people!! what the heck?! i'm so excited for him to be here, but i literally have nothing ready. don't even have clothes, or blankets, or diapers, or my crib....nothing....i did buy myself a canopy cover thing online today cause i got it for free....but do i have a car seat to put it on when it gets here? no....
everyone keeps telling me to wait til after my baby showers...so that is what i'm doing. both of which are coming up pretty soon. beginning of february. we'll work it out.

speaking of car seats....i have no idea what to even look for in a car seat. any suggestions? i mostly go for which colors i like best, but....i'm guessing that's probably not top on the list of importance. also, strollers....should i get one of those big bulky strollers? or should i bag it and just wait til they're big enough to fit in one of those cheap fold up ones that are like $10? i need some opinions, my friends.

i think i've finally picked out a theme/color scheme for the nursery. i still have so many different ideas that probably don't all mesh together but i'll make it work. i'm kind of going with a woodsy/earthy theme. like dark oranges, reds, browns, greys, white and maybe some teal to brighten it up a bit. i saw a nursery on pinterest with those colors and about died it was so cute. also...i found the cutest fantastic mr. fox printable on etsy {i found a couple, actually} that i really want. and everyone knows... {maybe?} that i love fantastic mr. fox. it's one of my favorites.

anywho...i have another picture question for you mama's out there. first of all, i think i've decided to do a mini maternity shoot. just a couple nice edited pics of me and norman and baby bump. nothing fancy. but...i have another question. i really really enjoy birthing shoots. i think they are absolutely beautiful. the photos of the sweet husband comforting his wife who is in pain and most likely terrified, the first time seeing your baby, the first time your husband holds your baby....all of it is so beautiful. a couple of my favorite shoots are here, here and here

but here's my problem. i'm pretty private. and i don't just want to hire some jo shmo to come take pictures of my son's birth. in fact, my husband and i already pretty much decided that we only want him and i in the room. this makes things difficult. 2 of the 3 posts i shared above, their moms took the pictures, and the last one got lucky enough to have their nurses/midwife take some. so do i ask the nurses to snap some photos and hope they get some good ones or know how to use a camera? or do i buck up and have a family member do it? or do i just bail on the pictures all together? i'm having a really hard time deciding. it would be great to have some input. Lay it on me, mamas! And thanks for all your help in advance!

  1. Have your momma do it! Even if it's not with a fancy camera or she doesn't know about "the right lighting", turn any picture into black and white and it's beautiful! I already wanted my mom in the room, and I'm so lucky she's a photographer, but having her in the room was so worth it - above and beyond just having her take the pictures. I loved Stephen's comfort and his sweet efforts to help ease the pain and fear, but my mom had actually been through the process. She knew what I was going through and it was so comforting. After Uriah was born and Stephen and I had had our moment with him, when my eyes met my mom's for the first time... It was just the sweetest moment. She is my very best friend and being able to see her with her grandson right from the start... It honestly still brings tears to my eyes! You can even tell your mom you're hesitant about having her in the room, my mom was so sweet and respectful the whole time, giving Stephen and I our space and moments and not over bearing - she offered just the right amount of help at the right times. And when Stephen was off with Uriah, she was able to stay with me, so I was never alone. Basically, haha! Have your mom do it!

  3. So, I've heard a lot of good things from friends of mine who love the graco fast action jogger stroller that works with the graco click connect carseat. I got the set together and it comes in a lot of different colors. A lot of people i talk to love having a jogger stroller because it can be so versatile, but they are a bit bulky. As for a smaller/lighter stroller I've had the snap and go recommended to me.
Obviously I have yet to try these out in my own day to day life but I always like hearing personal recommendations versus just having to go off reviews online.

  4. We love out chicco keyfit carseat! We bought a Bob and a bar to adapt for our infant seat. It is super nice, but I don't know that we use it enough to make it worth the money. You could watch KSL though, they have used ones on there a lot.
My mom took a lot of pictures at the hospital. But only Preston was in the room when I had Presley. I wish I would have had her stay in and take pictures because that part went so fast I don't remember everything! And Presley was only in the room with us for just a second so we didn't get as many pictures as I wanted.

  5. Hi Morgan! Ok I know this post is old but I wanted to add my two cents. ;) We didn't have any family at the hospital since we live so far away and we literally have like two pictures of our whole three day hospital stay and not even one of all three of us. Partly because I was pretty out of it after having a c-section and partly because we were too afraid to ask the busy nurses to take pictures! I am so sad about it still! For my next birth, I am going to hire someone for sure!!! I am going to try a VBAC next time but even if I end up with another c-section I want to have pictures of meeting our babe and everything. I should say though I'm not very private so it wouldn't bother me to have a random photographer in the room (as long as they aren't annoying..haha). Anyway! I think you should definitely have someone snap some photos...whoever you feel comfortable with but just someone to catch those precious moments that are hard to remember because it goes so fast!

  6. PS this is Betsey. :) I'm sure you figured that out! And about the car seat-we used the graco snugride 35 which I mostly picked for the color but Travis gave me options of the ones he researched. It was an awesome one! We also had the jogging stroller that it clicks into and I love it! We used it like every day last summer. We also just bought a nicer umbrella stroller-chicco echo and it's so awesome too. My friend told me-you will use every stroller you ever buy. And it's true. We've used both for lots of different reasons. Just get something that's easy/nice to push and fold up. Anyway...I need to stop now that I've written two novels. Haha-I just love talking about babies and baby stuff!
