29 weeks

pictured left was at the endish of my 28th week. pictured right was on monday at 29 weeks 1 day pregnant. {now i'm almost 30!! ahh}

i had that glucose test everyone always talks about. it wasn't terrible. reminded me of those super sugary barrel drinks we had when we were kids that burned your throat because it had so much sugar in it. {remember those?} the worst part was sitting in the waiting room for forever doing nothing...waiting for them to draw my blood again. and then after my glucose test i had to go down to labor and delivery and get my shot Rh factor? i think is what it's called? i dunno...but no one told me it was a "in the butt" kind of shot. norman and i even joked about it, i said "watch i walk in and they're like 'drop your drawers'...umm...what?"

well...that's basically what really did happen. she came in .... after i had been sitting there for forever...irritable cause i hadn't eaten in about 4 or more hours and i'm pretty sure they forgot about me...i had to go down to the nurses station and be like ....are we gonna do this or what? anywho.....as i was saying...she came in...and i said, so do i need to take my sweater off? {so she could get to my arm} and she says..no, this one actually goes into the hip.

umm...what?

well that sucks. so dropped my drawers i did, and the poke didn't hurt as bad as her injecting the fluid into me...did not feel very nice. i'm not sure how i had three sisters get this shot multiple times and no one tell me that it goes in your bum...and that it kinda hurts. i was just expectin a little arm shot....not so much.

anyway, moving on. i had an appointment today and they got my glucose results back..everything was normal. yay! we listened to baby's heartbeat. beautiful as always. he measured my tummy. growing normally. he weighed me. i had gained a little over 2 lbs. right on track. only downer was i found that i have a bit of an infection so i have to take some meds for that. ugh....but as long as baby is ok, i'm ok. it's still so unreal to me that i have a little over 10 weeks left. i go in every 2 weeks for my doctors appointments now. everything is getting very real. i had a mini panic attack last night while laying in bed trying to fall asleep. i just had a flash of norman and i in the hospital and i was in labor...and it was scary...and it is all getting very real. and i still haven't bought one dang thing. but my baby showers are coming up soon and they'll pull through for me ;) i'm so excited to see all my lovely friends and family!

baby moves all.the.time. i think i say that every time. but seriously he moves more and more every day, i swear. and they are big boisterous movements. he gets the hiccups quite often, too. that's always a nice addition to the already crazy movements. my belly is rarely nice and round, he's always pushing out at some weird angle making my tummy lopsided. i'm so excited to meet that little boy of mine.

people definitely know i'm pregnant, now. it's funny how at first you want so badly for people to recognize that you're pregnant and now it's like ok...we've been talking for a solid minute or so...you can stop staring at my belly. it was so cute though...the other day i was working at destinations inn and i checkin in the nicest older couple from wyoming. they went to their room, came back out and informed me they were headed out to dinner. the wife then said, "honey, do you want us to bring you something to eat? do you need anything?" i kindly declined and said that i was ok. the husband then asked when i was due and congratulated me and they went on their way. i just thought it was the sweetest thing for them to offer. i immediately texted norman about it and described it as "cute." he replied with:

"only you would think someone offering you some food is cute."

haha. could be true. i love food. i said, "was it not cute?" he then responded by saying...."it's kind? generous? giving? selfless? charitable? christlike? thoughtful? caring? loving? those all come to mind before cute does...."

i thought it was quite humorous. but, anywho...there's your update on my sweet boy and all that comes with growing him inside my belly. hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! i finally got my kitchen all unpacked! now just for the living room and we're done! yay! moving sucks.
the end.

please tell me you've done something like this, too

yeah I know, I know. my mirror is dirty....but...I don't seem to have windex anywhere in sight. so...screw it.

so I am now 25 weeks and 1 day pregnant. baby moves..a LOT. whenever I'm the "big spoon" at night baby reece likes to kick norman in the back. it's very cute. I don't really feel sick anymore. mornings are still a little touchy, but not terrible. I was having trouble sleeping until I pulled out my trusty pregnant pillow that norman got me a while back and it is heavenly I won't lie...I sleep like an angel now. it's magic.

but what I really wanted to share with you today was a rather embarrassing/funny short story that happened yesterday. you ladies who have been pregnant or are pregnant better have had something similar happen like this to you as well...or I'm gonna feel really weird.

So, I love massages. love love love them. and norman is pretty good at them. so I ask him often if he will give me a massage. and at the beginning of our marriage...wasn't a big deal...but now because of the frequency of my asking...it's become a nuisance to him. and I don't blame him because honestly...I hate giving people massages. well the last couple of days I have been pleasantly awoken with a nice little back massage from my dear husband and it has been so so so great. so last night after we watched the Christmas devotional on tv and played a game of Russian rummy...norm was finishing up some school work and I was chillin on the couch...not doing much, but feeling really uncomfortable. as usual. {which I know will get worse...you don't need to mention it}. norman finished up and wanted to cuddle and I asked him if he would give me a massage. I wanted one bad. he kindly said no, he had willingly given me one this morning and yesterday morning without me even asking and that should fill his quota for a while. well..i wanted one bad...and I kept begging him to give me one.  but he wasn't budgin...and I knew he wasn't...and I started to get rather upset....

and I started to cry....like a good can't stop it kind of cry. the kind where I know it's so ridiculous but it's coming anyway so I'm half laughing half bawling. I'm trying to disguise this from norman and of course that's not going to work and he asks...."morgan! what are you doing?" so then he starts laughing, too and keeps asking me why I'm crying. I didn't even know?! I mean....why was I crying??

well he snuggled me while I cried and said weird things like "I feel so weird right now." and "I just feel so uncomfortable all the time it's nice to have something that makes me feel good."

guys, it was so weird.

so he kindly sat and rubbed and tickled and massaged my back for a good 20 minutes. and it was heavenly. but I still felt like a fool. it was the weirdest thing I've ever cried about. I mean, being a girl...and havin that time of the month...I've cried about some weird stuff. but my husband saying that he didn't want to give me a massage? that's a little much, morg.

anywho, we had a good laugh about it again afterwards...and it'll probably still be funny to us for a long time. but wow.....please tell me you pregnant mamma's have had weird stuff like that too, k? cause then maybe I won't feel so weird.

thanks. :)

a little story from the south

so remember how in this post how i said that norman, my mom, and i went to "kill some time in a big way"? well i have a story for you.

so after we dropped off kelsey and my dad we were brainstorming what to do til we met up with norman's cousin in a couple hours for breakfast. well, my mom had looked up a bunch of famous people's addresses and so she suggested we go find their houses. i thought it was a fun plan...so off we went.

closest to us was faith hill and tim mcgraw. so we put it in the gps and a-searching we went. they literally live up on this hill on a dead end street that takes about 80 turns to get to. so we pull up and this is what we see:

and i'm thinkin....naaaaah...this isn't it. it's too small! i mean....it's big...but for my good friends tim and faith....it looked a little small. so we throw the car in park, i get out and take this quick picture, get back in the car and i'm re-googling the address to make sure my mom got it right. i'm lookin up pictures of their house and right when i get to a picture that proves that yes, this is indeed their house...i hear my mom gasp and say oh no! as she is suddenly throwing the car into reverse. i look up and their garage door is opening.

my heart sunk!! my mom was blocking their driveway and doing about a 16-point turn in this dead end street to try to move as i'm yelling mom! go!!! GOOO!! WHAT IF IT'S THEM!?? HURRY!!!
and let me tell you...they were BOOKIN it out of that driveway...like, it's street cleaning day and i gotta move my car, fast...i was nervous.
so their right on our tail, of course, because my mom took so long to turn around, and i'm still yelling and then i think....wait....what if it IS them? i need a picture...so i throw my phone up without looking and took this picture:

so i'm in the backseat and i tell my mom to slow down so i can get a better pic and so i can see who it is. so i peak out the back window and it's TOTALLY FAITH HILL!!!
i was dying. not beacuse i was necessarily star struck but because i felt so stupid. she was right on the butt of our car. thought she was gonna kill us.

but i don't care of course...so i shamelessly take another picture.

so then norman is like...k we need to lose her so she's not following us all the way out of the neighborhood. so we turn on some random street and stop....and as we do ....i of course take another picture. {which ended up bein the best one i have}.

she even kindly turned her head for me so i could get a good face shot. :)

so we calm down...all of our hearts are racing a mile a minute...and we turn the car around to head out of the neighborhood. well, as we turn the corner and start driving down the hill.....she's coming back.....and she passes us....yes, i'm talkin about faith. and she gave us a look as she passed. we were all torn whether it was a scowl or just a glance....guess we'll never know. but i'm pretty sure she was chasing the weirdos that were parked in front of her house out of the neighborhood.

or maybe she was in a hurry and forgot something?

well....whatever....i saw faith hill. :)

norman and morgan...it's hard to say.

hi, i'm {insert name} and this is my wife, {insert common name that goes well with first name mentioned}.

hello, i'm norman and this is my wife, morgan.

....

are you serious? morgan and norman?

....

that is often the reply norman and i get when we tell them our names. because yes, they kind of rhyme in a slantish way. and yes, they are really hard to say and it feels like there is a lot going on in your mouth. it's not convenient...by any means.

in fact when my niece, london, was small she used to call us the same thing. we were both called "meh-yeh".
she thought we had the same name. it's fine.

i grew up with norman, so it doesn't seem like a weird name to me, because i've always known him. but it is an older generation's name.

his grandpa is norman.
his dad is norman.
he is norman.
{and no...i won't be naming a future son norman...sorry to disappoint...we have some other plans to keep the tradition going}

but the funniest reactions to norman's name ... are children's reactions. and this is why i write this post today.

so here's a short story for ya.

i teach primary at our church. 6 and 7 year olds. it's pretty great. and gets pretty funny.

well there's this girl in my class named Evelyn. she is so spunky and sweet and likes me a lot {she even so cute-ly said "i know my teacher, sister reece, loves me" in her testimony a couple months ago}. anyway..she was sitting next to me in primary and norman walked by and waved to me.

evelyn: "was that your husband?"
me: "yes, it was"

evelyn: "what's his name?"
me: "norman..."

evelyn: "NORMAN?!?!"
me {laughing}: "yes, norman."

evelyn: "well, that's a weird name."
me: "it is a little bit different isn't it?"

evelyn: "yeah......{long pause while in deep 6 year old thought}......it kinda sounds like he should be a smurf....."

i started laughin pretty hard. was not expectin that one. i went home and told norman and he thought it was pretty funny...after he gave me, what we call, the sardine face.

that's me doing "the face" on the left.
{pretty cute}

anywho.... just so you know....i do have some new years resolutions and i want to share them on this here, blog, but.... haven't been in the mood for it. :) it'll come soon enough...

p.s. bachelor starts tonight! WOOT WOOT!
p.p.s. finally made a new header that i like!{for now}
whatdya think?

Embarrassed? Me?...no

day 10: 30 for 30

describe your most embarrassing moment.

so....folks...we have a problem here.

cause i have wracked my brain.
asked my husband.
asked my sister.
pondered.

and i cannot think of a most embarrassing moment.

i haven't had anything happen to me that scarred me enough to be a most embarassing moment i guess.

moments that most refer to as "embarrassing" make me laugh hard. and because it's usually so funny...it makes it not that embarrassing.

i have some mini stories that are funny memories though:

*like that moment when i'm talking to my cousin in the movie theater and i'm like screaming so she can hear me over the preview that is currently playing....and then the preview stops as i'm still screaming.....it was great.

*or that time i asked the sister missionary in our ward who is from south africa if she had to learn english when she came on her mission here, or if she already knew it {because she had a really strong accent} and then later my dad told me that english is her first language......cool.

*or that one time i'm in the middle of a great volleyball game at a tournament and the ball is coming my way and i am positive it's going out of bounds so i put my foot on the line and call it out, and it bounces off my foot...even better.

*then you have that moment at work when a guy comes in to look at wedding rings, brings his sister for some help...and i ask if it's his mom....i'm an idiot.

*and of course the time where my cousins told me these treats were these new oreos...i ate one...whole...it was her dogs dog treats....yummo!

i've got loads of silly stories like these that have occurred throughout my lifetime, but nothing has been what i would consider "most embarrassing."

all are just funny to laugh at.

really i'm just a big weirdo that has a hard time taking anything too serious.

happy thursday! :)

Reunions, Conference, Malls, and a White Afro...

I'm gonna do a little recap on the rest of our spring break and my first day back at school. It went as follows:

we had a normans missions reunion at his mission presidents house in Alpine, UT.

their house is amazing to say the least. very beautiful. and the company was even better.
norman got to see some old mission buddies he hasn't seen since the mish, and i got to meet them. it was a ton of fun.
we also had a spiritual thought and "30 second testimonies" and the spirit was so strong. it was a great way to kick off general conference weekend.

this is norman and some of the elders he served with

norman also got his birthday present a little early while we were in salt lake!! but i won't reveal that yet til his actual birthday...

then we had general conference.

normans parents had tickets for a session on saturday, so they went and we stayed in the hotel and watched it in the comfort of our pj's. :)

it was amazing to say the least.
this years conference was full of inspirational talks and motivates me to want to improve in so many ways i can't get to get started.

after conference on saturday, joy {mother in law}, heather {sister in law}, and myself went to check out the new City Creek Mall.

bein that it was conference weekend....there were a ton of people there. it was gettin kinda crazy.

but we did a little shopping and i found some awesome deals.
shirt for $8.00 and a belt for $6.00
i love bargain shopping :)

then sunday we finished up conference and went home.

it was so uplifting.
conference just seems to get better and better.

Monday: back to school we were. Ugh... same old same old...we are currently learning how to wrap perms so we did some more of that.

however on tuesday...we got to wrap them on each other :)

now obviously we don't put the solution on it to actually perm it, but we let them dry and then took them out after lunch.

here are the results: it was epic

this is my friend, Ali :) we both did the same size rollers

me!

we decided to add a little somthin somethin to her hairs, so i did this

our whole class

it was soooo funny and we had a lot of laughs.

only 3 1/2 more weeks of school.....
except then i have summer school..bummer...but then i'll be out on the floor taking appointments! YAY! so if anyone needs a haircut, color, wax, pedicure, manicure, perm, or whatever you want come the month of May, i will be in business :)

Theory......DEBUNKED!

norm and i occasionally like to hold little myth buster moments in our home.

my cousin {mekelle, who is a 4th grade school teacher} told norm and i once that she did an experiment in her class where if you hold an egg with one hand {length wise} and squeeze really hard....you will never break it.

well about a year ago i tried this...and i could not get it to crack with my one hand. {but then i used both hands and it went EVERYWHERE}

so as i was making muffins tonight norm decided he wanted to try it. he grabbed an egg, went over to the sink {remembering what happened with me last time and the mess i made} and tested the theory....

well...it didn't take him long to shatter the egg and leave nothing but shell in his hand and protein all over the kitchen and me.

norm with the broken shell in his hand

my arm...and the wall behind me...

the wall up close

it was pretty humorous...i was laughing pretty hard. and after he cleaned it all up...we found more spattered all over the cork board we have in our kitchen.

who knew one egg could spread so far.

consider this theory:

debunked
